Erin Adams was educated at the University of Texas at Austin and attended the Pratt School of Art and Design in Brooklyn for her Master’s Degree in Ceramics. Following her studies at Pratt, Erin began her entrepreneurial career with EXVOTO from 1985 to 1986 in New York City. EX VOTO focused on worldly cultures and folk arts. It achieved great success and notoriety and was featured in many national magazines. The exposure lead to a commission from Andre Balazs, a well-known hotelier, and Katie Ford, the owner of the Ford Modeling Agency, to design the interior of their townhouse. Additionally, Erin was commissioned to design and create the interiors of several nightclubs. Erin developed an A-‐list clientele to work on celebrity homes as word spread.
She quickly realized she could scale the business to create and manufacture high-‐end houseware products for much larger markets.
She launched her first company, A Brand, in 1987. The first tabletop and accessory pieces she created were immediately sold in high‐end stores such as Henri Bendel, Neiman Marcus, and boutique stores throughout the USA.
Erin received excellent reviews from the press and became the first designer to use stained glass as a mosaic medium. Stained glass mosaic, now thirty years later, is one of the most successful and financially profitable processes for the stained glass industry.
